Honest answers about our formulas, ingredients, rituals, and how we work.
The Product
What exactly is an AXOMYTH Ritual Balm?
AXOMYTH Ritual Balms are concentrated, waterless aromatherapy balms designed to be applied to pulse points — your wrists, temples, and the base of the throat. Each balm supports one of the four states of modern life: sleep, calm, focus, and energy.
Unlike typical wellness products, our formulas contain no water — which means higher concentration of active botanicals and a more intentional sensory experience.
What makes AXOMYTH different from other aromatherapy products?
Three things set us apart:
Anhydrous formulas. Most balms and creams are 60–80% water. Ours contain none. This means every gram of product is active botanical material — not filler.
Functional blends. Our essential oil combinations are selected for specific sensory effects, not just pleasant fragrance. Each blend is crafted to support a particular state.
Ritual design. AXOMYTH is built around the idea that the pause is the practice. Apply. Breathe. Return. The ritual itself is part of the benefit.
Are the balms suitable for sensitive skin?
Our balms are formulated with premium plant-based ingredients and no synthetic fragrances, which makes them gentler than many conventional products. However, essential oils can cause reactions in some individuals.
We recommend performing a patch test before first use — apply a small amount to the inside of your wrist and wait 24 hours before regular use. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.
All allergens naturally occurring in our essential oil blends are declared on packaging as required by UK cosmetic regulations.
Are AXOMYTH balms vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes — completely. Every AXOMYTH product is 100% vegan and cruelty-free. We do not use any animal-derived ingredients, and we never test on animals at any stage of development or production.
Our formulations also exclude synthetic fragrances, parabens, sulphates, PEGs, and other ingredients we consider unnecessary or harmful. We keep it simple: premium botanicals, nothing more.
How long does one balm last?
Each balm contains 15g of product. With regular daily use — applying to pulse points once or twice a day — a single balm typically lasts 6 to 8 weeks.
Once opened, we recommend using your balm within 12 months for optimal potency. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Can I use more than one variant in a day?
Yes — and many people do. Each balm is designed to support a different state, so you might use ENERGY in the morning before work, FOCUS at your desk, CALM when the day gets overwhelming, and SLEEP in the evening as part of your wind-down ritual.
There's no conflict between the variants — simply apply to different pulse points or allow the previous scent to settle before switching.
Formula & Ingredients
What does "anhydrous" mean, and why does it matter?
Anhydrous means water-free. Most cosmetics — creams, lotions, gels — are primarily water (often 60–80% of the formula). Water is inexpensive and adds volume, but it also dilutes active ingredients and requires preservatives to prevent microbial growth.
AXOMYTH formulas contain no water at all. Every percentage of the formula is an active botanical: waxes, butters, oils, and essential oil blends. The result is a more concentrated, more potent product that doesn't require water-based preservatives.
What are the key ingredients in AXOMYTH balms?
All four variants share the same premium anhydrous base:
Candelilla Wax (Euphorbia Cerifera Cera) — a plant-based wax that gives the balm its solid texture and smooth glide. A vegan alternative to beeswax.
Kokum Butter (Garcinia Indica Seed Butter) — a deeply nourishing butter with a firm consistency, known for skin resilience support.
Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil) — technically a liquid wax, structurally similar to the skin's natural sebum. Absorbs easily without greasiness.
Squalane — a lightweight, highly stable emollient derived from plants. Deeply hydrating without clogging pores.
Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride — derived from coconut, used for smooth application and enhanced absorption of active ingredients.
Each variant then includes a specific essential oil blend at 3% concentration, formulated for its sensory and functional properties.
What essential oils are in each variant?
SLEEP — Restore: Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Sandalwood, Benzoin Resinoid. A grounding, sleep-signal blend chosen for their calming sensory properties.
CALM — Unwind: Bergamot, Ylang-Ylang, Frankincense, Clary Sage. A softening blend for moments of overwhelm and overstimulation.
FOCUS — Realign: Rosemary, Peppermint, Lemon, Cedarwood. A refreshing, clarifying blend associated with mental clarity and intentional work.
ENERGY — Revive: Grapefruit, Sweet Orange, Ginger, Lime. A bright, warming blend designed to uplift mood and awaken the senses.
Are AXOMYTH balms IFRA-compliant?
Yes. All AXOMYTH essential oil blends are formulated to comply with IFRA (International Fragrance Association) standards — the globally recognised benchmark for fragrance safety.
Our formulations are also developed in accordance with UK Cosmetics Regulation (retained EU Regulation 1223/2009), and include a full Cosmetic Product Safety Report (CPSR) and Product Information File (PIF).
Do the balms contain allergens?
Essential oils naturally contain certain compounds that are required to be declared as allergens under UK cosmetic regulations. These are listed on every AXOMYTH box under "May contain:" followed by the relevant compounds (such as Linalool, Limonene, Geraniol, Citral), with the note that these occur naturally in essential oils.
If you have a known sensitivity to any of these compounds, please review the full ingredient list on your chosen variant before purchase. You can also contact us at support@axomyth.com for more information.
Where are AXOMYTH balms made?
AXOMYTH balms are formulated and made in England, in small batches, by a UK cosmetic laboratory committed to responsible formulation standards.
Small-batch production allows us to maintain quality control and ensure every balm meets our standards before it reaches you.
How to Use
How do I use AXOMYTH Ritual Balms?
The ritual is intentionally simple:
Apply. Twist the base of the balm to extend the product. Glide along your pulse points — the inside of your wrists, your temples, or the base of your throat.
Breathe. Bring your wrists close and take a slow, deep breath. Let the scent settle.
Return. Come back to the present moment. Repeat as needed throughout the day.
The process takes less than 60 seconds. The effect — a deliberate pause in your day — is the point.
Where exactly should I apply the balm?
Pulse points are areas where blood vessels sit close to the skin's surface, generating warmth that helps diffuse scent. The most effective application points are:
Wrists — the classic pulse point, easy to access and inhale from throughout the day.
Temples — particularly effective for SLEEP and CALM, where proximity to the senses matters.
Base of the throat — a subtle application point that releases scent naturally as you move.
You don't need much — a light pass is sufficient. The balm is concentrated.
When is the best time to use each variant?
SLEEP — Restore: Evening. As part of your wind-down ritual — after washing your face, before reading, or when you want to signal to your body that the day is ending.
CALM — Unwind: Anytime. Before a difficult conversation, during a stressful commute, or when you notice tension building. It's designed for the reset moment.
FOCUS — Realign: Before or during deep work. Morning sessions, creative work, or moments when you need to return to clarity after distraction.
ENERGY — Revive: Morning. Or the mid-afternoon when energy dips. Not a stimulant — a sensory signal to re-engage.
How long does the scent last on skin?
The scent sits close to the skin and fades gradually — longevity varies with skin type, activity level, and environmental conditions.
Because the balms are anhydrous and concentrated, a small amount goes a long way. You can reapply throughout the day as part of your ritual — there's no limit to how often you can use it.
Can I use AXOMYTH balms during pregnancy?
Some essential oils are not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester. Ingredients such as Clary Sage (in CALM) and Peppermint (in FOCUS) are among those that some practitioners advise caution with during pregnancy.
We recommend consulting your midwife or healthcare provider before using any aromatherapy products during pregnancy. If you have questions about specific ingredients, please contact us at support@axomyth.com.
